About

Someone once told me there are 2 kinds of people in the world: divers and skimmers.  Divers fixate on interests or tasks and really explore them in depth with the goal of becoming very accomplished at whatever it is.  Skimmers, on the other hand, are content to stay closer to the surface – the jack-of-all-trades-but-expert-at-none people.

I’m a dyed-in-the-wool skimmer, and I own that stereotype proudly.  But at the same time, I hate it when the things I produce don’t live up to my standards… which sometimes necessitates diving a little deeper and focusing more narrowly than I’m wont to do.

My photography is the same.  Not only can I not decide what kind of photography I want to focus on, I sometimes can’t decide if the focus of a particular trip is the pictures or the adventure.  Should I hike faster to get farther, or should I stop at every interesting waterfall/meadow/crevasse to get a photo?

Who knows where I’ll go with photography.  Of course I want to improve – but I can’t decide in what aspect.  Regardless of what happens, this blog will document my exploration.
